What do you do?
As the Executive Director of Max Higbee Center, I help deliver community-based recreation programs for teens and adults with developmental disabilities in Whatcom County. In my work, it is a pleasure to support and advocate alongside people in gaining opportunities to experience the friendships and joy of recreation. I am energized by efforts that improve our community's capacity to welcome people with disabilities and support every person to uniquely design and pursue a meaningful life.
What do you love about this area?
The people, community, and natural environment of Whatcom County have restored a sense of wonder and adventure that I misplaced at some point while "growing up". I love that our backyard holds endless opportunities to explore trails, mountains, lakes, rivers, and the Salish Sea and the community is full of wonderful people to share in the experience.
