Tonya Harding’s story has always intrigued me. Everything about her broke the rules of figure skating. I’m too young to remember the scandal of the 1994 Olympics, but I’ve heard little snipits of Tonya’s story over the years.
Being Tonya Harding and being a figure skater is a bit of an oxymoron, but there it was. She was both at the same time. Margot Robbie perfectly captured that balance so well in the film. She KILLED it as the hard-hitting, strong willed figure skating super star.
My girl Robbie, and the rest of the cast sucked me into their stories and shot me right back out again by the end of the movie. It was a whirlwind to say the least.
Allison Janney (up for an Oscar for this role, btw) was awful, but so great at the same time. Like, arguably one of the worst mother characters around, but also charming in some kind of messed up way. Made me feel confusing feelings. Oh, and her pet bird?! WTF, so good.
