***SPOILERS**** ****check yourself before you wreck yourself with SPOILERS****
You have been warned....
Eerie. Spooky. Scary. Haunting. Seeing Phantom Thread on a stormy Sunday afternoon certainly put a shiver up my spine.
The romance between Reynolds Woodcock and his muse Alma is honestly kind of terrifying? It's beautiful, don't get me wrong, but also creepy. Woodcock's sassy attitude is almost comical. He likes everything a certain way and anyone or anything that interrupts this is a problem for him. At one point, Alma brings him a pot of tea while he's working and he sends her packing. "I didn't ask for tea. Don't put it on the table. Pick it up and take it out." As Alma leaves, he points out that the damage is already done. "The tea is going out, but the interruption is staying right here with me." What. An. Asshole.
Reynolds is a tortured artist, but also kind of a big fat baby. He gets exactly what he wants and if he doesn't he throws a fit. Their twisted, weird world comes to a crescendo when Alma gives Reynolds a small dose of poison just to knock him off his feet for a few days. Like WHAT IN THE WORLD. Check yourself, before you wreck yourself Reynolds. Alma could wipe you out with just one more poisonous mushroom.
