What a movie. Like wow. It’s taken a couple of days to process this one.
I saw 3 Billboards without much context of what this movie was about. I didn’t even know who was playing the lead roles.
Now it's my top choice for the best picture Oscar this year.
Frances McDormand, who plays Mildred (the mom), is unstoppable. Her hunt for the man responsible for the loss of her daughter is ruthless. She scared the shit out of me, tbh.
This is not a movie for the faint of heart, or if you want a cheery, feel-good movie. The story will capture you. I was so engrossed with this film, after leaving the theater, I hardly remember the drive home. I just couldn’t stop thinking about those people and their lives.
Everyone in the film is dealing with their own personal battles and they all come to a head when Mildred rents the three billboards. There is some truly fucked up stuff that goes down. (If we're being honest this is my favorite kind of movie). Gritty acting, authentic writing, real shit.
